Make Your Diet Work for You

Updated: Jan 27, 2023

Bio-hacking your diet. Looking back to move forward. Ancestral and Traditional ways of eating to live optimally in today's world.

There's tremendous health benefits to adopting our ancestors' eating approaches. Getting back down to the simplest form of food (least processed), is how our bodies were adapted to digest and use the food for fuel.

In many cases our innate beings still crave the same traditional things. I do believe there's always room for adaptation to the environment, as the case for the field of Epigenetics; however, our environment has evolved so quickly with the technology, that our bodies have not caught up. Not that they need to with processed and industrial food, but there's clearly a disconnect with all the disease that's prevalent in our society.

Modern Diets and Technology

Fast food everywhere. People putting trash into their system left and right. SAD stands for The Standard American Diet, and it is just that. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that aren't aware of how poor quality food is affecting all aspects of their health.

With the "healthy" fads and trends, depending on how you look at them, can be a good thing. People are curious to trying new things and might find something that works for them. The food research, technology, and tools are becoming more advanced and can potentially help us to absorb more nutrients and unlock greater health benefits. A greater opportunity for bio-hacking, per-say.

Quality Over Anything

With all the industrial farming and food manufacturing, it can be confusing and difficult to find a trusted source for high quality food. Could eating truly raw possibly be more harmful to our system with certain bacteria and diseases present in a given (e.g. industrial) farming environment today? It truly depends on so many factors in farming like soil, pollutants, and evolutionary animal diets.

We can only do our best with what we are given, especially in terms of knowledge. Yes, ignorance can be bliss, but what if you're unknowingly harming your body and causing disease? Information is a great tool and putting that knowledge into action can save your life (and minimize your health care bill over time).

Back to the Basics

What to Eat to Feel Your Best

Think of old, hunter-gatherer days. Caveman and Cavewoman status. Things like HIGH QUALITY (evolutionarily raised - so the animals are also on their original diet) meats, veggies, fruits, nuts & seeds, herbs & spices. These foods are packed with nutrients and will keep your body at top notch operating mode.

If your diet doesn't sound close to this, focus on introducing more of these whole foods into your diet and ease out the processed junk. You'll start to notice you have more energy, elevated and more stable moods, greater focus, stronger mind-body connection, better functioning immune system, and more.
